South Tyrol's largest mountain pastures- and huts area
The holiday resort Gitschberg Jochtal is South Tyrol's largest mountain pastures- and huts area, with over 40 shelters.
This region includes three municipalities: The 700-year old market town of Rio di Pusteria/Mühlbach with the villages of Maranza, Valles and Spinga, Rodengo/Rodeneck with the eponymous castle, and Vandoies/Vintl with the unspoilt Valle di Fundres/Pfunderertal. All these three areas offer mountain romance, idyllic Alpine landscapes, and genuine South Tyrolean charm.
No need to waste time behind the wheel during your hiking holiday in Maranza –you can start right from our hotel and explore the surroundings. From our hotel it only takes a few minutes to reach the mountain railway to the Monte Cuzzo/Gitschberg and the cable car to Rio di Pusteria/Mühlbach.
In winter the two ski areas of Valles / Jochtal and Maranza/ Gitschberg provide a wonderful setting for skiing.
The 8-pax gondola allows to comfortably reach the mountain at 2,050 m of altitude, where you can conquer the summit or just take a hike to the next hut, let yourself be enchanted by the diverse alpine flora or enjoy the warm hospitality that will make you feel welcome wherever you go!
Wandering through the pastures, mountain lakes and peaks above Maranza you will feel what it means to become one with nature.
Discover the numerous hiking opportunities in the area: Leisurely walks in the valley, long-distance trails in the Fundres mountains, hiking paths to mountain huts and promising refuges near the Zillertal glacier.
