When can I check in?

Your room key will be ready for you from 3 p.m. Arriving early? The wellness area is available before check-in – the perfect way to start your holiday in full relaxation mode.

Do I need to book the hikes in advance?

The mountains are at your feet – feel free to be spontaneous. The hiking programme is open to all guests; signing up the day before is enough to plan your perfect tour.

Is there bike rental at the hotel?

A carefully curated fleet of state-of-the-art e-bikes (available for a fee) and mountain bikes (free of charge) is ready for you. We recommend reserving your preferred model in advance, ideally before arrival.

What does the wellness programme include?

The spa area is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. Treatments by the Sonnenberg Spa artists are especially popular – early booking secures your preferred slot.

Can I indicate special dietary requirements?

Our chefs lovingly create vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free delicacies. A quick note when booking is all it takes for exceptional culinary moments. Please note: a small surcharge applies for vegan menus due to the additional kitchen effort. Thank you for your understanding. 

Is there a shuttle from Franzensfeste train station?

A comfortable transfer service is available from Franzensfeste train station. Just let us know your train details when booking or at least three days before arrival, and the Sonnenberg shuttle will be there to greet you. 

What happens in bad weather?

The Valle Isarco/Eisacktal valley and Val Pusteria/Pustertal valley are full of magic in the rain, too. It’s the perfect time to explore castles, palaces, and museums or get cosy in the Sonnenberg Spa

Are dogs welcome?

Four-legged family members are treated to extra attention. They are warmly welcome in select room categories with prior notice.

How does arrival and departure work with an electric car?

Two high-speed charging stations are located right next to the hotel, four more are situated in the garage. Just let us know when booking if you’ll need one – further details are included in your booking confirmation. 

When is check-out?

Enjoy your haven until 10.30 a.m. A late check-out until 7 p.m. is available on request and for an additional fee – perfect for squeezing out a few more precious holiday moments. A Sonnenberg bonus: If you are staying at least two nights, you can continue to use the wellness area on your departure day until 7 p.m. if you wish. 

What are the payment methods?

Cash (please note the legal cash limit in Italy of €4,999.00) and Visa/Mastercard credit cards are accepted. You can also conveniently pay your bill in advance by bank transfer – for a relaxed, paperwork-free departure.

What are the cancellation terms?

You can cancel free of charge up to 30 days before arrival. (Any deposit paid will either be credited in full towards a future stay or refunded to your account minus a €50.00 processing fee.)
For later cancellations, the following charges apply: 

30 to 10 days before arrival:50% of the total booking amount
10 days before arrival to your arrival day:80% of the total booking amount
No-show or early departure:100% of the total booking amount

Tip: To avoid unplanned cancellation fees, we recommend you take out travel insurance.

Is there a minimum stay?

In peak season (December and January, July and August), a perfect mountain holiday starts from 5 nights – enough time to immerse yourself in the mountain rhythm. Shorter stays are available in low season.

What is breakfast like?

Your day begins with a fine gourmet highlight. From 7 a.m. to 10.30 a.m., our breakfast team treats you to local specialities, homemade creations – all accompanied by magnificent mountain views.

What is included in the ¾ premium gourmet board?

Our gourmet board includes a rich breakfast and a 5-course à la carte dinner. A light lunch and a sweet afternoon cake buffet are also part of the board.

How’s the Wi-Fi?

High-speed internet reaches every corner of the hotel – from the spa to the sun terrace. Free to access, it ensures smooth, crystal-clear video calls, too.

Is there a ski/bike room?

The air-conditioned sports equipment room offers each guest a private locker with shoe and helmet dryers. Your gear is kept in top condition, ready for your next adventure.

What extras are included in the room rate?

Guests have access to the wellness area and gym, and can participate in the activity programme. E-bike charging and the Almencard Gitschberg Jochtal are also included.

How does ski-in/ski-out work?

You can access the slopes directly opposite the hotel. In the morning, ski straight to the lift, and in the afternoon, a groomed slope brings you almost to the hotel doorstep.

Where can I park?

Our private underground garage offers a video-monitored parking space for all suites. Additional covered parking is available free of charge right next to the hotel.

Are extra beds or baby cots available?

In many of our spacious suites, the sleeping area can be extended with premium extra beds or fully equipped baby cots (free of charge) for even more family comfort.

How can I make special occasions even more special?

The Sonnenberg team turns any occasion into something memorable – from surprise birthday arrangements in the room to private spa sessions, and even mountaintop proposals. One call is all it takes to create magical moments.

Are allergy-friendly rooms available?

We have a selection of allergy-friendly suites with natural wood flooring and optional hypoallergenic bedding. Just mention your preferences when booking.

Do I have to pay a tourist tax?

Yes, the tourist tax in Mühlbach is €3.50 per guest/day for everyone aged 14 and over. 

What’s planned for New Year’s Eve?

Here, New Year’s Eve is a sparkling mountain experience with a gala menu, Champagne, and midnight magic on the panoramic terrace. Early booking guarantees the best seats for this special night.

Can I ski straight from the hotel to the slopes?

Yes – boots on and off you go! Thanks to ski-in/ski-out option, you can hit the Rio Pusteria/Gitschberg Jochtal ski area directly from the hotel. No lugging gear, no shuttle – just step out of the ski room, onto the slope, and into the snow-filled fun.
